LEADER
Local Employers Acting on Diversity, Equality and Race
This is a group of employers in the Southampton region that collaborate in order to make tangible progress on building a diverse workforce with community and social responsibility. Enlightened businesses that make best use of the region’s considerable diverse resources have the opportunity to build the city into a major hub for UK and global trade.

The Adopt a School Programme
Launched in Southampton in 2008, there are now 27 local organisations involved in the scheme. Schools and Colleges are keen to foster productive and sustainable relationships with local businesses. With Chloe having studied at Wyvern Secondary School it seemed fitting that having been inspired to great things by her time there, the company should return that inspiration and guidance back to the school.
As trained business ambassadors we offer work experience opportunities, Work Related Learning Activities such as mock interviews and other sessions for students to be involved with.
Year 10 student Beth Adams said: “It’s a chance for us to find out what the real world is like – it makes you think about what you need to do when you leave school.”
Business Southampton is working in conjunction with City Champion Solent Skill Quest to promote the Adopt a School Programme.

Solent EBP
Handover HR fully support local initiatives that bridge the gap between education and business, including the work of Solent Education Business Partnership which operates across the South Coast.

Wyvern Technology College
We have been particularly involved with Wyvern College which culminated in being awarded an “Amazing People” award in July 2010 for our commitment to them, which has included running workshops, role-playing of interviews and business insight exercises. Not only do these build understanding, skills and confidence, they also help students to see whether HR might be a career they are interested in pursuing in the future.

Business Southampton
An independent business led organisation, Business Southampton provides an influential united voice for businesses within the city region. It has many City Champions and action groups – Business Leadership, City Image, Cruise Partnership Southampton, Port City Futures Southampton and Sea City – that help to raise the profile of the city locally, nationally and internationally.
Handover HR are an active supporter and participant in events, networking and initiatives within this organization.

Handover HR work together with one of the UK’s leading business coaches, Ian Dickson, to deliver free seminars across the South Coast.
